Kashmir, Ek Doh, Ek Shaam

Huzaifa Pandit comes from Kashmir - one of the most militarized regions on earth. His poems are a reflection of the everyday turmoil of land and life. They correspond to resistance poetry – where the author uses verse as a means of protest. His words, written under siege, wage a constant battle against forgetfulness, against a system that is keen on erasing memory and experience of the people. His poetry exists to take a stand, abandoning objectivity and neutrality.
Huzaifa Pandit was born and raised in Kashmir. He is pursuing a PhD on “Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Agha Shahid Ali and Mahmoud Darwish – Poetics of Resistance” at University of Kashmir. His poems, translations, essays and papers have been published in various journals like Indian Literature, PaperCuts, CLRI, Punch ]and Muse India. He is fond of Urdu poetry, Urdu and old Bollywood music. He hopes to publish a book of his translations soon.
