What is this workshop about? Often-times, we find ourselves living a life of meeting demands. Demands of work deadlines, home struggles, or the demands we place on our own selves to do more, to be better.
At times, others’ challenges may take up the spotlight, leaving our needs and priorities to lurk in the dark – invisible. It is not an easy process to prioritize self-care amidst this. Most of us may feel guilty, scared, or dismissive towards the thought of putting ourselves first when things and people around us need to be taken care of. But here’s the truth: You and your needs are important too. Taking care of yourself is important too.
Who are we? With this in mind, The Mind Clan in collaboration Helm of Eight, brings to you The Everyday Series: Self-Care – our first workshop that will offer a non-judgmental space with trust and openness, to explore the ideas and practices of self-care over conversations, reflections, activities, and coffee!
What is the The Everyday Series? Everybody has their own process to change. The Everyday Series is our attempt at finding ways to bettering our lives a tiny bit, in a way that doesn’t call for a transformation of self, but something easier to make room for, in the lives that we already lead. It is about taking the first small, yet tangible step towards something we want to heal about ourselves.
What is self-care? Self-care can take various forms, shapes, and sizes. It can be about pleasurable activities that make us feel good, but it can also be about making choices that we are afraid of. Self-care can be a difficult, long-drawn, obstacle-ridden, facing-my-ugly-truths kind of process. It can also be a supportive, eye-opening, breezy, beautiful one. But at all times, self-care deserves to feel like an unapologetic process: one where you can acknowledge your unique needs, while you navigate through the demands that life places on you.
We invite you to share what self-care looks like for you. Is it as quiet as a meditative practice, as loud as going out dancing, as big as quitting that toxic job or relationship, or as small as sipping on that cup of tea by the window?
Join us for a Sunday evening gathering focused entirely on you. There will be stories to take back, conversations to remember, choices to commit to, decisions to let go of and forgiveness for ourselves.
Workshop fee includes the following: • Participation • Snacks and Coffee • Art materials • Surprise giveaway! We will be handing out toolkits for self-care to all participants to take home. :)
